STUDENT STAFF MEMBERS

Alex Minami - Undergrad Assistant

Alex is entering his fourth and final year both as an undergraduate at the University of Washington and as a member of the Husky Marching Band. He marched as a trombonist during his first season in the band before moving on to become a member of the band's Student Staff. He studies political science and German and plans to enter the Foreign Service. He comes from Kaneohe, Hawaii and graduated from Kamehameha High School-Kapalama in 2006.

Tucker Kraght - Staff Assistant

Tucker is a fifth year band member and student at the University of Washington and entering his first year as staff assistant. He marched as a trumpet for his first four years before becoming part of the Student Staff. He is also part of Kappa Kappa Psi, national honorary band service fraternity. He is part of the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies with a degree in Asian Studies and a minor in Music.

Alex Middleton - Music Librarian

Alex is majoring in Business Finance at the University of Phoenix from his home in Kirkland, Washington. He hopes to earn a Master’s Degree in Accounting before his educational career is through. A former member and section leader of the trombone section, this is currently his fifth year with the band.

Kailan Tyler-Babkirk, Lillian Dubiel, Ebony Terry- Uniform Manager’s

Kailan is a junior majoring in ceramic arts at the University of Washington. This will be her 3rd year as a HMB member playing piccolo and her first year as head uniform manager. She is looking forward to a good season.

Lillian, a UW junior from Spokane, WA, is studying pre-medicine and majoring in Political Science. This is her second-year in the HMB’s Mellophone Section, and she is excited to help the band look its best. Go Dawgs!

Rachelle Moore - Attendance Officer

Rachelle is a third year clarinet member and this will be her first year as Attendance Officer. She plans to major in Social Welfare and go on to either graduate or medical school once she graduates. Rachelle cannot wait for the Sarkisian era in Husky Football to begin and she also looks forward to watching UW volleyball go all the way this year. Rachelle graduated from Mark Morris High School in Longview, WA.

Angel Saucedo - Drum Major

My name is Angel Saucedo I have a drama degree from the University of Washington. This will be my 5th year in the band and fist year as drum major. Before this I was part of the most spirited section in the band the cymbal section. I am looking forward to a great year of husky football.

Martha Chan - Piccolo Section Leader

Martha Chan is proud to be this season's 2009-2010 Piccolo Section Leader. This is her third year with the band and at the UW studying Law, Societies and Justice (LSJ) and Public Health. When she is not on the field marching or playing the flute and piccolo, she can be found running or biking around Seattle. Martha is also the Vice President of Kappa Kappa Psi and works as a Student Coordinator at the UW First Year Programs Office. Go Dawgs!

Janelle Arnez - Piccolo Section Leader

Janelle is excited to be returning for her fourth year in Band and her second year as a Section Leader for the Piccolos! Janelle is entering her fifth year and final quarter at the UW. She will graduate with a degree in Music and German Culture Studies. After joining HMB for their European Tour this summer, Janelle will be continuing her studies at Concordia University next fall. She intends to her master's degree in Church Music. Raised in Mill Creek, WA, Janelle attended Jackson High School and is a proud alumni of Everett Youth Symphony. When she's not in class or a practice room, you can find Janelle working at Starbucks, working out in the IMA or pondering the workings of music theory in the Music Library. Janelle is excited for another great year of Husky Sports. Go Dawgs!

Dylan Antovich - Clarinet Section Leader

Dylan is going into his 5th year in school and HMB. He’s finishing his Psychology degree with minors in Italian and Music. After graduating, Dylan plans to enroll in a clinical psychology doctorate program. This year he’s looking forward to Notre Dame (Beat the Irish), rallies, sixth quarter, and enduring November practices. Go DAWGS.

Jennifer Arther - Clarinet Section Leader

Jen is in her fourth year in band. She is a senior in school, majoring in Applied and Computational Mathematical Sciences: Engineering and Physical Sciences. She is also a brother of Kappa Kappa Psi and in her second year as Recording Secretary for the chapter. Jen is looking forward to giving back to her section and watching some great football this season!

Derek Anderson (Alto) - Saxophone Section Leader

Derek is a senior at UW and this will be his fifth year in Husky Band. He is majoring in Math and minoring in Music and plans to attend graduate school after he graduates. Derek loves playing saxophone, swimming, baseball, and bowling. He also can’t wait to see what Sark and the Huskies have in store for this year. Derek is really excited for band this year and hopes to make the sax section even better than it was last year!

Wayne McNeal (Tenor) - Saxophone Section Leader

Wayne will be a senior this year at UW. As a graduate of Bethel High School in Spanaway, WA, it will be his 4th year as part of Husky Band. He is currently majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering and plans to attend graduate school after he graduates. He enjoys playing soccer, ultimate frisbee, hip-hop dancing and traveling in his free time. He is very excited to see what the team will bring this year with coach Sark. Wayne will be keeping it real with THE Husky Saxes and will aim to help the section become better than before.

Tony Andrus - Trumpet Section Leader

This is Tony’s fifth year (he’s old) in band, and second year as a section leader. He was imported to Seattle from exotic Bothell, is double-majoring in the ever popular fields of linguistics and Chinese language, and spends most of his time quelling his rampant facial hair. He plans to spend the quarter watching the Husky football team thrash the opposition, and listening to jazz in his off hours. Go Dawgs! Allison Nichols - Trumpet Section Leader

Aaron Menkens - Mellophone Section Leader

Aaron is in his fifth year at the University of Washington completing his degree in Architectural Studies. This is his fifth year in band and second as Section leader. He plans to attend graduate school next year in order to become a licensed architect and eventually practice in the Seattle area. He graduated from Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor, Washington in 2005 where he grew up. Aaron earned Section Leader of the Year last season and Most Musical Section for the Mellophones and hopes to raise the bar even further to promote excellence on the field and enthusiasm in the stands.

Scott Glasgo - Trombone Section Leader

Scott Glasgo is a senior at UW, beginning his fourth year in band, second as one of the Trombone section leaders. He's an Art History major specializing in Greek and Roman art. He's super excited for all the rookies coming into his section! It's gonna be a great season!
B'Down

Steven Luksan - Trombone Section Leader

Steven Luksan is a senior at the University of Washington and is double-majoring in Music Composition and Norwegian Language. Steven grew up in Federal Way, Washington and graduated from Todd Beamer High School where he played trombone in the jazz band and concert band, and cello in the school orchestra. Steven recently returned from summer quarter in Norway where he studied at the University of Bergen, but is very excited to be back in Seattle for a great season of Husky Football!

Josh Romain - Baritone Section Leader

Josh is in his third year of both school and Husky Band. He is majoring in chemistry and biochemistry and intends to enter the health field after completing the necessary education. Josh graduated from Pasco High School in 2007, and has been a member of both the Denver Blue Knights and the Seattle Cascades (dci.org). Oh yeah, and Go Dawgs.

Rob Watters - Sousaphone Section Leader

Rob Watters is a junior at UW and this will be his third year in HMB. Rob has been interested in HMB since his freshman year at Sequim High School after attending Husky Band day. He's a 4th generation husky whose sister, father, multiple uncles, grandfather, and great grandfather all attended UW. Rob is excited to continue the spirit of the Husky sousaphone section, and the Husky Band in 2009. Go Dawgs!

Chris Lennard - Drumline Section Leader

Chris will be a 5th-year member of the drumline. He is double majoring in Music Education and Music Performance in the area of orchestral percussion. He just finished a summer tour with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps out of Casper, Wyoming, and is excited for what’s sure to be an amazing year of Husky Football! When he’s not playing an instrument (which is seldom), Chris enjoys reading, frisbee, and sushi.
