Alex Minami - Undergrad Assistant

Alex, a junior at the University of Washington, is double-majoring in Political Science and German Language and Literature and comes to Seattle from Kāne‘ohe, Hawai‘i. Before being appointed to the student staff at the end of his freshman year, Alex marched with the band as a trombone player.

Kristen Shelton - Music Librarian

This is Kristen's third year at UW and my second in HMB. She is majoring in history and anthropology and minoring in Near Eastern Studies with the goal of teaching elementary or middle school. Kristen is a native of Waxhaw, NC and was a drum major for the Parkwood High School Marching Rebels. Music has always been a huge part of Kristen's life and she am excited to be able to assist the band this year through student staff. Go Dawgs!

Roxanne McCurry - Uniform Manager

Roxanne is entering her fourth year in the marching band, and this is her second year on staff. Formerly, she was a member of the piccolo section. She is studying chemistry, and plans to transfer to a nursing program after she completes her bachelor's degree.

Jessica Stein - Uniform Manager

Jessi is entering her fifth year both at UW and is a member of the HMB Piccolo section. She is doing a double major in Drama (Scenic Design and Construction) and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. Jessi is a native Seattleite and a graduate of Franklin High School. She is excited to be back with the band after spending 5 months living and studying in Jerusalem. PSA!

Desiree Decker - Attendance Officer

Ross Michaelis - Drum Major

This will be Ross's third year as a Husky Drum Major and his fifth year at University of Washington. Ross is an alto sax player and is studying Music Education. He is also a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity where he is currently acting as Grand Master of Ceremonies and a former Rush Chair. He graduated from Mt. Baker High School in Deming, WA in 2004. A former high school Drum Major, Ross traveled to London in 2004 to march in the New Year's Day Parade after receiving an All Star Award.

Bo Wilson - Piccolo Section Leader

Bo is proud to be one of the two section leaders for the talented and beautiful 2008-2009 Piccolo section. She was born and raised in Colorado and has lived in Washington for about 10 years now. Bo is a double major in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Music. She have been in band for 4 years and is excited to make this her fifth. When Bo is not out on the field she can usually be found in class, working at the Library Cashier in Suzzallo, or at UDYC, a drop-in center for at-risk youth. Go Dawgs!!!

Janelle Arnez - Piccolo Section Leader

Janelle is a third year piccolo, first year section leader, and a senior at UW. She is double majoring in Flute Performance and German Culture Studies. After graduation Janelle will be going to grad school for Flute Performance. When she's not playing flute and picc, she is a Barista at Starbucks. Janelle is very excited for the upcoming season – Go Dawgs!

Tom Glanz - Clarinet Section Leader

Tom Glanz will be in his senior year of college and his second year as clarinet section leader with Jon Tu this season. He is majoring in Psychology (BS) as well as minoring in Music and Japanese and plans on graduating in 4 years and a quarter. Tom has played a variety of clarinets and saxophones for 11 years in jazz, concert, pep, and marching ensembles. Plans after college include a Masters Degree as well as travel to Japan possibly to teach English. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Tom graduated from Redmond High School in Redmond, Washington and aspires to create the first Redmond Alumni Pep Ensemble. Go Dawgs!

Derek is a senior at UW and this will be his fourth year in Husky Band. He is majoring in Math and plans to attend graduate school after he graduates. Derek loves playing saxophone, swimming, and bowling. He also cant wait to see what jake locker and the huskies have in store for the year Derek is really excited for band this yeah hopes to make some big changes in the sax section for the better.

Nels Mattson - Saxophone Section Leader

Ian Johnson - Trumpet Section Leader

This will be Ian’s fifth year as a Husky Trumpet and his fourth in Kappa Kappa Psi. He will be majoring in Aeronautics and Astronautics, while minoring in Music, Math, and Earth and Space Sciences. As a brother of Kappa Kappa Psi, Ian was awarded the Western District Individual Active Achievement Award for Spring 2008 and the National AEA Scholarship. He served as Gamma Chapter President from March 2007 until June 2008. This will be Ian's second year as Husky Trumpet Section Leader and is looking forward to completing the Pac-10 tour this fall. Ian graduated from Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, Washington. WPTSFY and Go Dawgs.

Alex, a resident of Kirkland is entering his fourth year in the Husky Marching Band. A graduate of Lake Washington High School in 2005, he is currently seeking a Bachelors of Science in Business Finance at the University of Phoenix - Bellevue Campus and later hopes to pursue a Master's in Accounting. When not in school or at band functions, Alex serves as an Assistant Manager at Lincoln Square Cinemas in Bellevue. With the band, Alex has been fortunate enough to travel to California and Oregon for football and basketball games as well as Beijing this past summer for the 2008 Olympic Orchestra.

Chris is entering his fourth year in the snare line of the Husky Marching Band. He is working on degrees in Music Education and Music Performance on his main instrument, marimba. Chris hails from Snohomish High School, and is looking forward to another great year in Husky Band!
