Walter C. Welke (1929 - 1956)
- Graduate of University of Michigan
- Adopted "high-step" traditional style of marching still used today
- Early innovator in the integration of on-field drill and musical performance
- Bands consisted entirely of University students
- Begun tradition of saluting visiting teams by spelling out their name on the field and
performing their fight song

Bill Cole (1957 - 1969)
- Graduate of University of Illinois
- Oversaw the adaptation of Bill Moffitt's Soundpower squad system as the basis planning and marching system used by the Husky Band to this day.
- Begun the traditional "bowing the letters" in HUSKIES formation on the field
- Not only maintained the traditional style of the band but had an enormous impact on the
band's level of musicianship

Bill Bissell (1970 - 1993)
- Graduate of Willamette College and University of Illinois
- His approach to his entertaining halftime productions was decidedly
"vaudevillian."
- ;Created "The Wave" along with former Yell King Rob Weller in Husky Stadium for
Homecoming 1981
- Developed the Band's signature 'flag pole' formation and flag raising ceremony, which has
been performed at the conclusion of every home pre-game show ever since. It was once noted as
"the most spectacular presentation of colors in the nation."

Dr. Brad McDavid (1994 - present)
- Graduate of Ohio State University and Arizona State University
- Under McDavid's guidance the band has not only grown to its current size of 240 but has
also maintained it's traditional roots and dedication to musical excellence.
- Has integrated contemporary drill design into the Band's predominantly traditional
marching style, while also maintaining many of the Band's signature formations and repertoire
